MKU invites applications for JRF position in project at school of biological sciences – Times of India

MADURAI: Applications are invited for a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position in Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) –sponsored Research Project at the Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) school of biological sciences. The last date for applying is February 15.

The SERB-sponsored project on ‘Genome-wide identification and molecular characterisation of root colonization fitness genes in epiphytic and endophytic plant growth promoting fluorescent pseudomonas strains’ is sanctioned for three years.

The fellowship will provide Rs 31,000 monthly for first two years and Rs 35,000 monthly for the third year, as well as house rent allowance (HRA).

The required qualifications for applying for the position are a master’s degree (MSc / M Tech with at least 55% marks in Microbiology / Genomics / Biotechnology / Bioinformatics / Computational Biology / Life Sciences). Qualification in national exams like UCG-CSIR-NET/GATE, etc. is also needed.

Experience in next-generation sequencing and data analysis, linux operating systems, programming skills and script writing (e.g. Perl, Python) may be desirable from candidates.

Interested candidates can submit five copies of detailed bio-data with recent photographs, testimonials, publications and attested copies of certificates to Dr J Rajendhran, department of genetics, school of biological sciences, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai – 625021 on or before February 15.
