The Definitive Edition of the game is developed by Tantalus Media and Forgotten Empires studios and published by Xbox Game Studios. It features enhanced audio, a fully remastered soundtrack and 4K Ultra HD graphics support. It adds two new civilizations: The Inca and The Swedes, and includes all the previously released expansion packs and also, the 14 civilizations.
There are two new game modes: Historical Battles and The Art of War Challenge Missions. The game also comes with support for cross-platform play. As per the Steam description of the game, “head online to challenge other players with updated online multiplayer with cross network play and enjoy modern gaming features including spectator modes and mod support.”
